Adding apps to your Facebook business page is a great way to showcase your other social media platforms and provide more opportunities for followers to find you on other networks.
If you haven't heard of Facebook Apps before, you can install plugins that allow you to to create links to your website, blog, or social media accounts so they are featured on your Facebook business page. The photo below shows the apps I use on my Facebook page. As you can see, in the bottom left hand corner, I link to my website, Pinterest and Instagram.
Think about which websites or social media links are most beneficial for you to display. This is your chance to show your most valuable work or social profiles to your visitor, so put them in order of importance.
Install the Apps. Below are links to set up Facebook Apps for each social account. I used Woobox to set up apps for my website, Pinterest and Instagram. If you have an online shop, Etsy and Shopify both have Facebook Apps that allow you to share your store on your Facebook business page. The links to these are below.
To set up apps using Woobox, create an account (it's free to sign up). Then go to 'static tabs' and click on 'create a new tab' in the top right corner. You then have the option to set up a custom URL, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram or Youtube app.
Create custom buttons for the apps.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create some simple buttons that match my brand so my Facebook business page is cohesive with my website.
The dimensions to create a custom button image are 111x 74 px. If you don't have Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, simple editing programs like PicMonkey and Canva should also allow you to do this.
To add the new button image to your Facebook App, go to your Facebook business page and click Settings > Apps. On the app you which you want to update the image, click 'Edit Settings'. Under 'Custom Tab Image' click 'change' and you can then upload your custom image.
Finally you can move your apps so they appear closer to the top of the page. In the app box on your business, hover the mouse in the top right corner until a pencil icon appears. Click the icon and the 'Manage Sections' box should appear, like the picture above. You can then rearrange the order the sections appear and drag the 'Apps' section closer to the top.
