What’s an interactive quiz?
I’m sure you’ve seen thousands of Buzzfeed quizzes flying around the internet, those are interactive quizzes! The most popular type of quiz is a personality quiz. This allows users to to answer a series of fun questions which them matches them with a personality most like them.
In case you’ve never seen a personality quiz before, here’s an example of an interactive quiz I’ve created: What Type of Creative Entrepreneur Are You?
How can using quizzes build my email list?
Online quizzes aren’t just a fun tool to connect with your audience, they also help you grow your email list! When someone completes your quiz, they will be presented with an opt-in form. This allows them to enter their email address before they see the quiz results. This is a quick and effective way to collect email signups and encourage more people to join your email list!
Why I love using Interact
I use a tool called Interact to build my online quizzes. I love Interact because it’s very simple to use and makes creating quizzes easy, even if you're not a tech-savvy person!
Here’s some of my favourite features:
Different types of quizzes
Interact lets you create 3 different types of quizzes:
Assessment quizzes allow you to test knowledge in a fun way. These are the quizzes that say something like “How much do you know about Harry Potter” or “Do you know the capital city of these countries?”.
Personality quizzes are the most well known. The quiz taker answers a variety of questions to find out their personality type. These quizzes usually say something like “Which Disney princess are you?” or “What kind of Starbucks drink are you?”.
Score quizzes allow you to create your own scored quiz. Each answer has a points associated with it and the quiz taker will collect the points depending on their answers to the question. At the end of the quiz they will be shown their total points that will correspond to a unique score range.
Interact has a great selection of templates for you to choose from. If you don’t know where to start you can browse through the templates for inspiration or edit a template to work for you. This is a super quick way to whip together a great quiz!
It’s easy to set up your quiz to match the branding of your own website. Just change the colours, fonts, images and add your own logo. You can make your quiz look unique with just a few clicks!
Connects straight to ConvertKit
I use ConvertKit as my email marketing provider and I love that Interact integrates directly with ConvertKit, along with many other email service providers. This makes it super simple to connect your accounts and start collecting leads straight away.
Once someone finishes a quiz they will be presented with an opt-in form. You can set it up so when they fill out the form they will get automatically tagged and added to a new sequence inside ConvertKit. You can also set it up so they get added to different sequences depending on the results they get from the quiz!
Easy to share
Interact makes it really easy for your quiz users to share the quiz on social media. Once they’ve finished the quiz they will be presented with buttons to share the quiz directly to Facebook and Twitter. This helps your quiz get seen by more people, which is an effective way to grow your audience and attract more people to your website and business!
Interact makes it easy to analyse the results of your quizzes. There’s a graph that shows you the number of views, starts, completions, leads and conversions that your quiz generates.
You can also take this a step further and connect your Google Analytics account for more detailed analytics.
Giveaways are another great tool to grow your email list. Interact allows you to collect people’s email addresses when they enter for the chance to win the giveaway. This helps you reach a wider audience and generate more leads!
Ways you can use a quiz for your business
Not sure how you’d implement quizzes into your business? Here’s some ideas:
If you run a education or careers advice service you could create a quiz like, “What kind of career is best for you?” or “Which college course is right for you?” as a creative way to help your clients.
If you run a fashion boutique or have your own makeup line you could create quizzes like “What's your beauty style?” or “What’s your fashion type?” to draw your audience in.
If you’re an interior designer, creating quizzes like “What’s your living room style?” or “What colour palette is right for you?” would be a great way to attract and connect with your target audience.
If you’re a nutritionist or health advisor you could create quizzes like “How healthy do you eat?” or “What kind of vegetable are you?”. This could help your clients get a better understanding of their diet and food choices.
How to Create Your Own Quiz

Step 2: Click the ‘create a new quiz’ button and choose the type of quiz you want. I would recommend you go with an assessment or personality quiz to start with.

Browse through the template options and pick a template that works best for you.
Step 3: You can use the sidebar to edit the title, image, description and button text on the cover page.
Step 4: Select 'Results' from the sidebar and edit the title, image and description for each of the quiz results. These are the personalities that will be matched with the quiz taker once they've answered all the questions.
Step 5: Now edit the questions. You can choose between text questions or image questions depending on what you prefer.
Step 6: In the top-right corner, click the button that says 'edit result correlations'. You can then match the question answers to the appropriate result. You need to do this for each question.
Step 7: Edit the branding of your quiz. You can do this by uploading a logo and changing the font and colours to suit your own brand style.
Step 8: Edit the social share settings to choose which share buttons you wish to be displayed at the end of the quiz.

Step 11: Set up conversion tracking. You can add a Facebook Pixel or connect your Google Analytics account for more in-depth tracking.
Step 12: Once your done, preview your quiz to check it works.
Then click 'publish' to make the quiz live.
